Harpers Ferry is a place of the American drama. It is located in West Virginia, but the park consists of land in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland. Harpers Ferry witnessed the arrival of first American railroad, the exploitation of people, John Brown’s attack on the institution of slavery, the largest surrender of Federal troops during the Civil War, and the education of former slaves in one of the earliest integrated schools in the United Sates.
