Top Reasons to Visit Lisbon in Winter

"Lisbon in snow"Quite recently we switched from daylight savings time again, which means the days are becoming shorter and temperatures get colder. We all wish to either curl up in bed or on the sofa all day or escape to a warmer climate. It doesn’t have to be an all-inclusive beach vacation right away. We are pleased with a weekend getaway to Portugal, renting Lisbon apartments. And you want to know why?!

Mild winter climate

During the cold winter month Lisbon maintains rather mild temperatures. It usually won’t get any colder than 10°C and the sun is no stranger either. You can enjoy a nice stroll along the beach. And for those who are into skiing you won’t fall short of options either. You will have to take the train or the car to get there, but there are a few great ski locations where you can hit the slopes, for example Serra da Estrela.

Where old meets new

Known as the explorer city Lisbon offers a perfect balance between the old and the modern. Modern buildings are combined with the cultural heritage of ancient architecture. The city is very diverse and the Chiado district you experience a little bit of both, the old and the new Lisbon. Here you mingle with the locals, experience the cultural life as well as the nightlife and can do some shopping.

Tourist attractions open all year around

During winter is the low season for visitors to come to Lisbon, so this is a great opportunity to see all tourist attractions without the hassle of waiting in line or being crowded everywhere you go. Among the must-sees are the Alfama – the oldest part of town, the Castelo de Sao Jorge, and the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. From the top of Cristo Rei you will have the best panoramic view of the city.

Have you taken a look outside of the window and are not pleased with what you see? Well, then I suggest you look into flights and apartments in Lisbon to stay in if you would like to spend a couple of days in a more pleasant climate.
