Where to go on golf holidays to Turkey

"Pamukkale Turkey"Despite the Turkish Golf Federation only been set on in 1996, the country has become a haven for golf holidays thanks to its breath-taking courses and holes that will require players to be at the top of their game.

Here are three golf courses in Turkey which keen golfers should make an effort to visit while in this fascinating country:

Lykia Links

As the number one golf course in Portugal according to Top 100 Golf Courses, Lykia Links will test even the most skilled of golfers due to its railway-sleepered bunkers, deep fairways and vast waste areas which players will want to avoid if they are to rack up a good score.

Mapped-out by renowned designer Perry Dye, the course also offers holidaymakers awe-inspiring views in between shots, thanks to it being nestled next to a river estuary that runs straight into the Mediterranean.

PGA Sultan

Just think about it for a moment – enjoy a spot of golf on Antalya Golf Club’s PGA Sultan golf course and you will be playing on the same green that held the 2012 Eisenhower Trophy tournament.

Assembled jointly by David Jones and the European Golf Design company, this course perfectly demonstrates that you do not need to go over the top in order to create a challenge.

Instead, a huge forest and a collection of lakes is all what is needed to see many golfers struggle to keep their score low on this 6,477-metre, Par 71 course.

Vita Park

While the previous two golf courses are both based in the Belek region of Turkey, the country’s Bodrum district also hides a wonderful treasure – the Vita Park Golf Resort.

A fairly modern golf course – it only opened its gates to the public in 2006 – Vita Park is made up of the 5,795-metre, Par 71 Milas Course and the 6,480-metre, Par 70 Halikarnas. Be rest assured, your golf skills will really be put to the test no matter which course you choose to tee off from.

Feeling a little rusty? No problem! The Vita Park Golf Resort is also home to the Mike Adams Golf Academy so that you can get some practice in before heading out onto the vast, open greens.

Then there is the icing on the cake – the resort has been constructed around a marvellous wetland habitat where you will be able to glimpse some of the rarest birds in the world as you prepare for your next shot.
